• Toys — mixed. Whatever was popular is gone; whatever was overstocked is deeply cut.

How Boxing Week works

Very few Canadian retailers now confine the sale to a single day. "Boxing Week" typically runs from December 26 through the first days of January, and the pricing usually deepens as it goes rather than starting at its lowest.

The trade-off is selection. Day one has the full range at a good discount; day five has a better discount on a picked-over range. For anything size-dependent — clothing, footwear, furniture — going early is almost always right. For anything where you only care about the price, waiting is better.

Many chains also begin their sales online on Christmas Day itself, before physical doors open on the 26th.

Returns and gift receipts
